Preface
Some wolves will know these rivers, lakes, and mountains like the back of their paw and definitely by their names, even if they don't know how they got them; others will be lost in an alien territory, looking for somewhere less hostile than before. Most of the lost wolves will be coming from somewhere East, and may know that territory better, ect, ect. Animals typically stray from human ruins for fear of what machinery could lie inside of it, so your wolf shouldn't know too much about the inner-most human city, just potentially knowing they stayed in a run-down shack or such. If you have any big plot ideas that you want to add onto the map (i.e. a mountain with a huge treasure on top, some one-of-a-kind plant that snacks on wolves, whatever) feel free to either post it below, or message me personally because I'm the one who whipped up this mess of a map. If necessary, I can "zoom out" the map to further help the plot, it all depends on where you guys want to take it.
It would be amazing if you could help add onto the settings page here by adding what you have thought up for an interesting new species of plant or animal on the Setting Suggestions thread. The admins here are only so creative . Also, feel free to make some up as you go to fit into the roleplay, but be sure to post them on this page.
The Territory Overall
The territory is basically a mess of a forest with all sorts of plants and animals inhabiting it. Only areas with high traffic see any sort of dirt, the rest is fairly well covered in some sort of vine or other form of brambles. Some of this foliage is dangerous to wolves and other critters, while others help in great ways to those that know how to use them. See the list below for just some of the plants seen and known to some specialist wolves. The weather varies greatly with the season, being warm and humid in the summer, but frigid and occasionally icy in the winter, all caused by humans previous.
Western Territory
The western-most part of the territory is rich with water, either from rain or from run-off streams created by the nearby rivers. Because of this, it is filled to the brim with all sorts of interesting plants and semi-aquatic animals and a need for shelter because of the dampness.
Eastern Territory
The Eastern-most part of the territory is fairly dried up due to the old human meandering. The area still has foliage, but of a different kind; one that doesn't require much water and fertilization to live. Sure, it still gets its rain/snowfall, but it's almost instantly sucked up from the soil and plants in a desperate attempt to get back to its fertilized glory.
The Aussichtslos Range
The "Hopeless" Range is named after its steep twists and turns, pointed rocks, and deadly wildlife. Here you can find territorial rams with sharpened horns and heat-sensing abilities, poisonous lizards, and various types of deadly fungus that, when used correctly, can actually bring the dead to life (See Suckerwart) among other things. The higher up on the mountain, the colder it is.
Nieman Lake/River
This lake and river combo was named after its lack of population in days of old, though it has had a recent explosion of traffic due to the East's water problems and the harshness of the nearby mountains. It was formed from the run-off from the mountains icy peaks. No one as of now knows why it was so under-populated and avoided in days of old, the only theory being because of it's chilled temperatures from being formed by ice run-off.
Whiteport River/ Midpoint Lake
Midpoint lake is named for being the center point of the "peninsula" on the continent. Creatures from all over the territory visit this lake because of the moderate and swim-able temperature as well as its mineral-enriched waters. Whiteport river feeds from the lake into the nearby salty ocean, and has a few interesting creatures due to it's half-fresh and half-salt water combination. A few tasty fish are one of the many creations, but beware of the alligators that feast off them.
The Northern Rapids
They're, well, rapids. There's one large pool of calm waters where a few varieties of aquatic life breed and pools of algae form. It's a fairly cold river, that carved its way into the rocks and formed all sorts of death traps inside it. It eventually dies off into many streams that dance around the western territory.
